(DALLAS) – Viewed as one of the world’s largest direct seller of energy and a leading national retail energy provider, Ambit Energy announced today, that the company’s social responsibility project, Ambit Cares, has been awarded 501(c)(3) status.
In the first year of the program in 2016, 557 participants tendered 3,292 hours at relief organizations in the U.S., and donated a total of $65,495 in cash donations with 218,474 pounds of food.
The initiative was formed to provide employees and Consultants an opportunity to help battle hunger in their respective communities. Volunteer opportunities are organized every quarter and urges Consultants to take part in small endeavours that aims to end hunger, which, according to recent studies, affects 1 in 8 Americans.
Ambit Cares has also opened a website where they accept donations for all employees, Customers, Consultants, and friends. The website is called AmbitCares.org. The country’s leading hunger relief organization, Feeding America, is Ambit Cares’ chief beneficiary. Donations received are given out in areas where they came from making the contributors aware that they are helping one of their own.
Ambit Cares also champions awareness for hunger relief and encourages volunteerism when possible. They’ve made it a point to recognize their volunteers and reward them through the Volunteer of the Year award, which the organization gives out every year at the Ambit Energy annual conference. The award is based on volunteer hours, food donated and monetary contributions that the company tracks closely,
