Nature’s Sunshine Products Receives Direct Selling License In China

LEHI, Utah — Leading natural health and wellness company Nature’s Sunshine Products (NASDAQ: NATR) announced its receipt of its direct selling license from China’s Ministry of Commerce, MOFCOM.

The license allows Nature’s Sunshine, a company involved in the manufacturing and direct selling of personal care and nutritional products, to begin expanding its business range, which includes direct selling activities from within China. Based in Shanghai, considered to be a leading economic zone with a population of more than 24 million, Nature’s Sunshine China began the application process for the direct selling license after a joint venture with Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd. (Fosun Pharma), a major healthcare organization, in 2014 was formed. The joint venture marks the first collaboration between a U.S. and Chinese company for direct selling in China, a notable differentiator in the marketplace.

According to 2015 data from the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations, China is considered to be the world’s second largest direct selling market when it comes to retail sales.  Direct selling retail sales in China went up 19.0% to USD $35.5 billion and made up 19.3% of global sales.
